NOTICE TO ALL OWNERS AND RESIDENTS; Rat Issue in Sinclair Development

Dear Owners and Residents,

We regret to inform you that there has been a recent increase in rat sightings within the Sinclair Development. We are taking immediate steps to address this issue including engaging with Pest Control and reducing shrub density in key areas.

We need your cooperation to effectively manage and eliminate this problem.

Why Rats Are an Issue:

  • Health Risks: Rats can carry diseases that are harmful to humans, such as leptospirosis / Weil’s disease, salmonella, and hantavirus.
  • Property Damage: Rats can cause significant damage to buildings by gnawing on electrical wires, insulation, and structural components.
  • Contamination: They can contaminate food and surfaces with their droppings and urine, posing a risk to health and hygiene.

Causes of Rat Infestations:

  • Food Sources: Improperly stored food, overflowing garbage bins, and pet food left outside can attract rats.
  • Shelter: Cluttered areas, overgrown vegetation, and accessible entry points in buildings provide ideal nesting sites for rats.
  • Water Sources: Leaking pipes, standing water, and pet water bowls can provide the necessary hydration for rats to thrive.

How You Can Help:

  1. Proper Waste Management: Ensure all garbage is securely stored in the communal wheelie bins with tight-fitting lids. Please refrain from storing rubbish bags in flats or stairwells even for a short duration. (Any bins with a missing lid should be reported to the Council referencing the rat issues as justification)
  1. Seal Entry Points: Check your property for any holes or gaps and seal them to prevent rats from entering.
  1. Remove Clutter: Keep your surroundings clean and free of clutter where rats can hide.
  1. Report Sightings: If you see any rats or signs of infestation, please report it to the factor immediately.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community safe and clean. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact Trinity Factors

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Sincerely,

Sinclair Development Committee
